Getoff King Crowned in New York
A Bahamian actor, known as “Getoff King,” received a new crown this summer, as he was named “Male Actor of the Year” at the most competitive talent search in New York.
Arnold Miller, who has been performing standup and sketch comedy for years, took his acting skills to IMTA 2024 in New York. He distinguished himself among hundreds of actors to emerge as the top talent at the showcase. In addition to the win, he was the runner up in the monologue and cold read categories, and he received honorable mention in additional categories.
“The best part about the competition is that the majority of people in the crowd are not just audience members,” he said. “The majority are talent scouts and agents, and they’re looking at the competitors to see out of everyone who they would pick to sign for their corporation after the competitions.”
After six callbacks, Miller decided to sign with AMTI, a management company based in Toronto, Canada. AMTI has provided him with many more audition opportunities since his signing. He aims to remain focused on his career, and he hopes to someday make a mark on the entertainment industry as another famous Bahamian, Sidney Poitier, did before him.
